Our Safety and Security Personnel

Vigía jefe de zonaThe Vigíasare the backbone of the CicloRecreoVía, providing logistical and general support. Without them the event could not take place efficiently and safely. For logistical reasons the CicloRecreoVía is divided into various sectors. At the head of each is a special Vigía who has been designated the Zone Chief.

Vigías are selected for their personal qualities, which include responsibility, a friendly and outgoing personality, the ability to be discrete when resolving various situation that may arise in the course of the event, and, most importantly, the desire to serve.

Responsibilities of the Vigías

Vigías are in charge of setting up and taking down all of the CicloRecreoVía-related equipment, including those elements related to security, information, and support.

Additionally, they are individuals who are specially designated to offer support to participants in the CicloRecreoVía. A Vigía solves problems related to the requests for information or orientation, helps those who have had an accident, and gives answers to any questions or requests that may come up.

Ensuring that the Rules of Use are followed throughout the circuit is also one of the responsibilities of the Vigías.

Beyond this, the Vigías have the important duty of escorting motorists who need to leave or enter a road that is part of the circuit. All Vigías are officially authorized to perform this function, and, within the CicloRecreoVía, drivers are obligated to follow their instructions.

A Vigía can, in the event that a motorist refuses to follow the given instructions, report that driver to the Carabineros (police) or Municipal Inspectors.

miinThe Vigías receive training in: first aid, bicycle repair, and human relations.

All Vigías can be identified by their uniform, which consists of an orange polo, blue pants, and white socks.

Mini Vigías

The Mini Vigías are children and adolescents that approached us with the interest of participating in and helping with the activities and tasks that must be accomplished each week as part of the CicloRecreoVía. They also have their own distinctive uniform.
